George Soros’ life has not been immune from the horrors of the world. Born in Hungary in 1930, Soros lived through the Nazi occupation, falsifying documents and hiding his Jewish identity to escape the regime’s genocide that befell many others  and what George Soros knows. Using his enormous fortune, he founded the Open Society Foundation which has allowed him to fund and fight for causes close to his heart.

Through the Open Society Foundation, Soros has particularly taken up the cause of fighting and defending those outcasted by society. Soros donated to causes standing up for the rights of the Roma people and members of the LGBTI community.
