Raffaele Riva

Many people might have the same idea about becoming a successful entrepreneur, but for Raffaele Riva, success is not achieved by just having a great idea.

Raffaele started his first company at the age of 16. Since then, he has grown various businesses into thriving industries with global impact and has advised top companies on marketing strategy and business development.

He also served as an official advisor to Italy’s leading economic planning agency—AND was named one of Fortune Magazine’s “World Top Ten Business Game Changers” in 2010–among many awards and accolades already under his belt.

While Raffaele admits that he has learned a few things along the way, his greatest lesson is, “What matters is not where you start in life, but how you choose to get to your destination.”

More than just an idea, the business money comes from taking action and making something work. It all begins with putting your heart into everything you do and never giving up on your dreams. This means it all starts with a vision.

Raffaele Riva was born with an entrepreneurial spirit. At the age of 16, he purchased his first Ferrari, which was worth $5 million. He ran his first business at 19 and by 23 had already acquired an impressive amount of capital (about $20 million) in start-up companies.

Raffaele’s first business venture was on buying real estate within Italy: hotel rooms and residential housing in Rome. His second business, a consulting firm and marketing agency, sold more than $55 million advertising space. Raffaele Riva also started a construction company that built infrastructure and hydrants in Italy, the Middle East and China.

He then started advising the Italian government on strategic marketing communications, new media projects for government bodies and economic planning issues in Italy.

Raffaele’s third business venture was setting up a non-profit organization to help poor people from Africa get into work through apprenticeships in Italy. The program launched successfully with hundreds of participants from three African countries coming to Italy for the first time, achieving Italian language certification as well as vocational training courses for courses.
